The Facts. Your Future.

We are offering a new interactive opportunity for high school students. The Facts. Your Future. is a substance use prevention and resilience skill-building education program. Built on three lessons, the curriculum dives into the following topics:

  • Defining Choices
  • Building Coping Skills
  • Creating Healthy Relationships and Community

Each topic uses instructor-led teaching moments combined with interactive activities and fact sheets. The value of this program is that it complies with Florida Substance Use and Abuse Standards and aligns a number of evidence-based practices with an easy-to-deliver program.

The State of Florida under DCF is spearheading this initiative, and it involves addressing substances that remain at the forefront of safety concerns, including fentanyl, alcohol, marijuana, vaping, and prescription drug misuse, while helping high school youth practice their resilience and coping abilities. It provides real, factual information to empower youth with knowledge and hope for their future.

Reach out to kristy@ovfv.org to learn where we are delivering the program and how we might be able to work with you to provide this learning opportunity to high schoolers.

The Facts. Your Future. Program

The initiative includes a comprehensive prevention curriculum aligned with Florida’s education standards. The lessons are built to foster open discussion, promote mental wellness, and explain the why behind prevention — supporting students in grades K-12, with a focused impact on grades 9–12.

These lessons can be used to meet the state’s mental health and substance abuse education requirement (Rule 6A-1.094124, F.A.C.), ensuring students are equipped with the knowledge they need to make smart, future-focused decisions.

The program is flexible, and the three lessons can be delivered using a variety of modalities.

  • In person over three distinct sessions over a three day or week period (each lesson takes approximately 30+ minutes)
  • In person in one session (plan for 2+ hours)
  • Virtual live delivered via Zoom, Teams, or other platform in three distinct sessions (each lesson takes approximately 30+ minutes)
  • Virtual live delivered via Zoom, Teams, or other platform in one session (plan for 2+ hours)
  • Self-paced training (coming soon)

The Facts. Your Future. for Families

Parents, families, and caregivers can review the curriculum in full on The Facts. Your Future. website (thefactsyourfuture.org). There are important Parent & Caregiver resources available, including a Parent Toolkit. The three lesson curriculum is also available along with worksheets and activities for anyone to review. The website includes drug fact videos, drug fact sheets, and help-based resources.
