Frequently Asked Questions
The most frequently asked questions are answered on this page. If you have any additional questions, please contact kristy@ovfv.org.
How many participants will be in the program?
The programs are limited to 12 to 36 participants, depending on the session and space, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate and be coached.
Who should attend? Which people will benefit most?
The Contextual Leadership methodology examines what it means to be human and what we have in common as human beings. All human beings have blind spots that constrain and limit what’s possible. The simple process of revealing those blind spots leaves people inspired, energized, and in action for the areas of life that have not worked to date. Some human beings have habitual ways of acting and behaving that get in the way of fulfilling what matters to them and their commitments. This program gives people the tools to experience power and freedom when confronting life’s most challenging circumstances.
Programs are open to all regardless of position, power, or authority. Our only pre-requisite for participation is that you are willing to explore and examine those blind spots in a safe and affirming environment.

Will I have to share personal information about myself?
The program is personal in nature, and you are likely to discover things about yourself that may surprise you. However, you are not required to share anything publicly that you are uncomfortable sharing.
Is the information shared confidential? Do you share my story publicly or report back to my company about me?
We request that all names, companies, and conversations that take place in the programs be held in the strictest confidence, and, to our knowledge, this request has been honored for over 30 years of doing this work at the Institute for Women’s Leadership, the Institute for Gender Partnership, and Allinium. We do not report anything back to your company or publicly share anything related to your participation. It is up to you to share what you gain from your participation.
What is the difference between the various program designs and delivery?
We are in the process of piloting a number of program formats. All programs include an introduction to the tools and methodology with exercises designed to develop your understanding and use of these tools. Of course, more time invested allows for more practice and a deeper understanding of how to utilize the tools to navigate life.
Ideally, we recommend everyone participate in an Intensive (typically one day) followed by participation in a 5-session series.
Will I have time to handle work-related issues during the program?
We recommend that you clear your calendar for the entire program. We also ask that you not manage any text messages or emails while the program is in session. We will take periodic breaks throughout the day.
Can I leave the program early?
It is important for you to be present for the entire program. Late arrivals and early departures are disruptive to everyone in the program, and we ask that you plan accordingly.
I have introverted tendencies. How can I get the most out of the program?
The transformational experience happens because you hear many stories, so the value you get from the program is not dependent on your speaking. However, your sharing allows the other participants in the program to gain value from your insights and will sometimes allow them to discover something about themselves in the process.
I’m not sure I’m experienced or senior enough to participate. I’m worried about being intimidated.
This thought pattern is a common experience for even the most senior individuals participating in our programs. It is likely you are in a room with many other people feeling the same way. Demonstrating leadership in all areas of your life is an opportunity that is not limited to your position, power, or authority. Remember, this program is about leadership, and you will have an opportunity to connect with people from many backgrounds, positions, and titles. Participants often remark that they have the extraordinary opportunity to meet diverse people from many different industries and backgrounds.
